Our highly skilled audiologists and hearing aid specialists treat each patient with compassion and dignity. The Hearing, Balance and Speech Center is committed to listening to each patient's concerns and aggressively treating their hearing loss.
Our Audiological Services include:
-Diagnostic audiological testing
-Hearing aid evalution and fitting
-Hearing tests for difficult to test populations
-Otoacoustic emissions testing - a screening test for hearing loss in infants, newborns, and very young children. Can also be used to identify functional or non-organic hearing loss, differentiate between cochlear and retro-cochlear hearing loss, detect cochlear dysfunction before actual hearing loss is present.
-Auditory brainstem response (ABR/BSER) -estimates hearing sensitivity and identifies neurological abnormalities of the auditory nerve and the auditory pathway up through the brainstem.
-Tympanometry for otitis media in children and adults - determines whether there is fluid behind the eardrum or whether an ear tube is blocked. The test can also discover whether there is a perforation in the eardrum.
Our Vestibular and Balance Services include:
-Electrocochleography (ECOG) - determines if the inner ear (cochlea) has an excessive amount of fluid pressure. Excessive fluid pressure in the cochlea can cause symptoms such as hearing loss, aural fullness, dizziness, and/or tinnitus. These symptoms are sometimes indicative of certain ear pathologies such as Meniere’s disease and/or perilymph fistula.
-Videonystagmography (VNG/ENG) - consists of 6 subtests: Ocular Motor Testing, Gaze Testing, High Frequency Handshake Test, Dix-Hallpike (tests for Benign Paroxysmal Vertigo, BPPV), Positional Testing, and Caloric Testing -Gans Sensory Organization Performance Test (SOP) -provides qualitative information regarding patterns of equilibrium maintenance by evaluating the use of various sensory inputs (vision, somatosensory, and vestibular) to postural stability -Computerized Dynamic Visual Acuity Test (CDVAT) - test for oscillopsia, a condition of non-stabilized vision during active head movement. Can also be used to compare the effectiveness of Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT). -Vestibular-Evoked Myogenic Potential Testing (VEMP) - used for the diagnosis of otological and neurological disorders -Evaluation for fall prevention Test Results:
